  6. Decorate them to Match your workspace
  7. Lay them on their backs for easy access

STEP ONE – Organization Sysytem
The first thing you need to do is establish a basic system for organizing all your paper. If you are already using our 4 Section System you will want to stick with it ! If you aren’t using the 4 Section System, you can click here to read all about it. It’s a great way to store everything you want to have easy access to.

The System - Organize your papers into 4 Major Groups*

  1. Themes A-Z – These are all the papers you have that go with a specific “theme”, i.e., Animals, Camping, Sports.
  2. Calendar Year – These are all the papers that fit into Holiday or Seasonal categories, i.e. Christmas, Easter, Fourth of July
  3. Kits or Groups – These are the groups of paper that you buy all together, like Basic Grey. They might include tags, alphabet letters, etc. These are things you’ve decided you want to keep together because you might used them together. These are non-theme specific. But you Theme specific things in either the Them section or the Calendar year section depending on what they are i.e. a Christmas Paper, Tag, Alphabet group would go in December, while a Baseball Paper, Tag, Alphabet group would to Themes A-Z either under Baseball or Sports depending on how you have your categories broken down.
  4. Rainbow – These are all the printed, patterned, and solid papers you’ve got that don’t fit into any of the categories listed above.

*If you are a 4 Section System User, you’ll notice we’ve not used the First Section, Letters, Numbers and Punctuation Marks in the Paper Box plan. This is because these are generally not paper. To get all of your supplies organized checkout Getting Organized. This will help with Paper, Embellishments, Fibers.......

STEP TWO – Straight Up Paper Storage Boxes
Now that you’ve got the paper sorted, you need to store it in the Paper Storage Boxes. These boxes as seen below can either be used standing straight up or can be laid on their backs for even easier access. Put each collection of paper into a box and label it. You can use the “Hold It” Brand Self-Adhesive Business Card holders as an easy tag on the box. You’ll be delighted at how easy it is to flip through the papers. You’ll also love the fact that the boxes keep your corners from getting beat up.

STEP THREE – Finishing Touches
Dividers - If you really want to make things easy add dividers to your boxes. You can use the ScrapRack brand Plastic Dividers by just trimming them down a little, or you can make your own Dividers . To make your own Dividers, use the piece of heavy cardboard that comes in the packaging of your Page Protectors and an Adhesive Tab. These work great because it is easy to change the label if you rearrange your Dividers or sections.

Making them Pretty - The other nice thing about the Straight Up Paper Storage Box is that is can be left completely plain, labeled with a business card holder, or decorated to match your scrapbooking space.

What else can you do with a Straight Up Paper Storage Box?

  1. Store “work in progress.”
  2. They are an inexpensive way to sort things out by family member or event.
  3. Keep all of your memorabilia, photographs, and special embellishments or papers together until you are ready to scrap them.
  4. This is an especially good system for “kid-stuff.” Put the plethora of stuff that comes home from school into a separate box for each child. When you are ready to scrap their pages, all of the homework, artwork, awards, etc. will be at your finger tips.
  5. Store you Memorabilia, Special Papers, etc. in a box designed for each family member.
